OUR STORY
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide affordable housing that meets identified community needs, enhances the quality of life of residents, and achieves the highest possible standard of energy efficiency.
The purpose of the Society is to:
-
Provide safe, affordable housing that is designed to foster a sense of community, encouraging long-term tenancy
-
Utilize design and construction principles when building that meet the highest possible standard in energy efficiency, yielding a healthy living environment, lower operating costs, and a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions
-
Provide outdoor living spaces that are designed to enhance the health and quality of life of residents of all ages
-
Provide housing in proximity to public transit, daycare centres, and grocery.
Incorporated in 2010, we are an organization that works to create a sense of community in each of our apartment buildings. This includes the construction of our 46-unit Maitland Street Village and the purchase and renovation of the High View Apartments.
Housing Options
At ALEHS, we offer a range of rental options to meet the diverse needs of our community:
-
Suites rented at fair market value – Standard rental units at fair market value.
-
Rent-Geared-to-Income (RGI) – Rent is based on household income, making housing more affordable for individuals and families.
-
Deep Subsidy Rates – For tenants with low or fixed incomes
Our goal is to ensure safe, comfortable, and affordable housing.
All units are designed with energy efficiency in mind to support comfortable, affordable living.
